Sharjah: Two UAE coaches will be taught how to teach the art of bowling reverse swing.

Persley Polonnowita and Sandeep Dhuri, two cricketers turned coaches, flew out to Lahore yesterday to attend a course being organised by the Asian Cricket Council.

The art of reverse swing will be taught by former Pakistan pacer Aqib Javed, who is considered as a master in the art of reverse swing.

He had played a key role in Pakistan's 1992 World Cup victory when he opened the bowling in place of injured Waqar Younis.

Javed will teach the art to Polonnowita and Dhuri as part of the ACC Level 2 coaching course. He will also teach the various nuances of the swing and seam bowling.

Jalaluddin, the first bowler to take a hat-trick in one-day cricket, will teach them on how to prepare a fast bowler and on how to help a pacer avoid injuries.

Dr Vece Paes, the fitness consultant of the ACC, will impart knowledge on how to prepare a physically fit cricketer.

He will also teach on the different methods for warm up and even Aqua exercises.

This involves lessons on energy systems and fitness development.
