Dubai: Former Indian skipper Sunil Gavaskar had a meeting with the Chief Executive Officer of the International Cricket Council (ICC), Malcolm Speed, here yesterday.

Confirming the meeting, an ICC press release said it came in the wake of discussions by the ICC Board last week over the potential conflict of interest for a person "chairing the Cricket Committee while, at the same time, working for a media outlet."

Gavaskar, who is the chairman of the ICC Cricket Committee, is one of the leading commentators and columnists.

His comments on England and Australia being the "dinosaurs" of the game had taken the game's establishment by storm - prompting media reports he could be asked to step down from the ICC.

Gavaskar, according to the release, has agreed to convey his views to the ICC after having chaired the upcoming meeting of the Cricket Committee on May 5-6.

The ICC Board will then review the matter at its next meeting during ICC Annual Conference week in end-June.
