Sharjah: The UAE cricket team will defend the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Trophy in Malaysia this year.
The ACC events executive, Haridas, said: "The 2008 ACC Trophy will be held from July 25 to August 3 in Kuala Lumpur."
Mazhar Khan, the administrator of the Emirates Cricket Board, confirmed that UAE will defend the title and that new coach, Vasbert Drakes, will prepare the team for the Asia Cup and ACC Trophy.
"We will be naming 24 players for a camp soon and also tour Sri Lanka to play some practice matches," said Khan.
This will be the seventh edition of the ACC Trophy.
Meanwhile, in the Bukhatir League 'A' Division event, CSS defeated Air India by five wickets through Naemullah's unbeaten 88.
In the Dulsco Corporate tournament, Eurocon Alubond reached the quarterfinals.
