Abu Dhabi: Mohammad Asif of Esnaad and Nizar Ahmad of Adnoc won the Player of Tournament awards in the A and B Division categories in the Inter Oil Cricket Tournament which concluded here.
Both Asif and Ahmad along with the other individual award winners were honoured at a prize distribution ceremony to mark the end of the 14th edition of this annual championship.
Esnaad had won the A Division tournament dethroning reigning champions Adnoc-Dist while the Group B (Plate Event) was won by Gasco with Adgas emerging as the runners-up.
"This year 12 teams took part and we had some very exciting matches. Some of the players distinguished themselves with some fine individual performances. A total of 36 matches were played over ten weeks," said Nawab Ali, Co-ordinator of the event.
While Asif won the Man of the Series award in the Division A category, his teammate from Esnaad, Mohammad Badshah, won the Man of the Match award in the final.
Consistent performer and former Pakistan poolist Imran Zia was named Best Batsman while his Adnoc-Dist teammate Irfan Basheer walked away with the Best Bowler award in the A Division.
In the B Division, the Player of the Tournament award went to Nizar Ahmad of Adnoc while Imran Ahmad's effort in the final helped the Gasco player win the Man of the Match award for the final.
Adgas, the losing side in the B Division final, however picked up two individual awards when Mohammad Qasim and Imran Ali were named Best Batsman and Best Bowler respectively.
