Dubai : BN-AMRO stunned William Hare Abu Dhabi Gymkhana in a final-ball thriller in the weekend's Abu Dhabi Duty Free division-one cricket tournament here at the council grounds.
Shahid Khan scored the winning runs in the final delivery of the match to post 179 for nine in reply to Abu Dhabi Gymkhana's 177 for six in the allotted 25 overs. One-drop Kamran Mushtaq had set the platform for the bankers by stroking an entertaining 63 off 42 deliveries.
Amjad Ali smashed a remarkable 10 sixes and 17 fours in a top score of 186, but his effort went in vain as United Bank Limited went down by four wickets to Bin Jamal Cars, for whom, opener Nazar Hussain made 90.
Convincing
Kashif Butt scored the only other century of the weekend to steer Atlas Telecom to a convincing four-wicket win over Bin Moosa Daly. Atlas Telecom posted 246 for seven and restricted their opponents to 124 for eight. Fayyaz Ahmad took four for 26 from his quota of five overs.
