Sharjah: Allrounder Ambey Parwatkar displayed his splendid form by winning four consecutive man of the match awards and guiding Yogi Group to victory in the final of the Sharjah Champions Cup.

Parwatkar's rare feat won him the player of the tournament award.

"It is my determination to do better in every match, the support from my captain Shiva Pagrani helped me achieve this honour," Parwatkar told Gulf News.

In the final, Parwatkar took three wickets for eight runs to restrict Eurocon Alubond to 142 for 8. He then top-scored with a match-winning 48 to help his team win by five wickets.

Sparkling performance

Parwatkar, who had represented Mumbai and Goa in Ranji Trophy, sparkled in all the four knock out matches of this tournament. It was his unbeaten 87 that helped his team beat the strong Consolidated Shipping Services. In the next match against Al Hamad he hit 55 runs and took two wickets.

In the semifinal against Ibson Club he hit 42 runs and again took two wickets to usher his team into the final.

In the final, it was Parwatkar and Bilal Murtaza (40) who helped Yogi Group win. Murtaza won the best batsman of the tournament award.

For Eurocon it was a disappointing loss, having won four tournaments including the Ramadan tournaments in Sharjah and Abu Dhabi, Dulsco Corporate Cup and Ajman Twenty20 Cup.

In the Rosy Blue Twenty-20 Cup Pak Emirates scored a big victory.
