Abu Dhabi: The UAE players denied accusations of bad conduct during their training camp in Dubai earlier this month and asked the FA to punish the culprits.
The accusations were printed by an Arabic daily which led the FA to start an investigation by the FA's Technical Committee in charge of the national teams, which will meet today in Dubai to disccuss the issue. Head coach, Bruno Metsu, said, "I don't want to comment about this issue. It is a cause to worry about specially as we in the national team lived in a positive atmosphere in the past period and all players were disciplined."
Critical
Metsu added that "the behaviour of the players outside the field is not my responsibility."
Esmail Mattar, the UAE ace striker, said that "some parties have been keen to concentrate on the negative side of the team since winning the Gulf Cup in January last year. The time is critical because we are preparing to start our campaign in the qualifiers of the World Cup."
Mattar added, "If I am one of the mentioned players, I will confess publically so as not to shed a shadows of doubt on my other colleagues who have been suspected."
