Abu Dhabi: As expected, Al Wahda have terminated the contract of head coach, Dutchman Jo Bonferer, and appointed Egyptian Ahmad Abdul Halim as caretaker until a full time replacement is found.
Bonferer is the second coach sacked by the club this season following the termination of Brazilian Evo Wartman who led the team in the first weeks of the competition.

"I was surprised that my task has finished very fast," Bonferer said after his meeting with Abdullah Al Junaibi the member of the executive board of Al Wahda.
"I had plans to improve the team and make it one of the contenders for the title. But we were unlucky in matches despite the fact that the physical fitness improved and our performances were better than at the start of the league.
"I will never return back to Al Wahda. I will take a long rest at home in Belgium and then decide my plans," Bonferer added.
The Dutch coach led Al Wahda three times.
The first was in 1998 and then in 2002.
