Abu Dhabi: The UAE FA has accepted the resignation of Yousuf Hussain and appointed three new members to join the board of directors until the end of office in May this year.
The UAE FA met on Wednesday, presided over by its Chairman Mohammad Khalfan Al Rumaithi, and decided to accept the resignation of the former head of the competition committee following the conflict between him and his colleagues in the board of directors.
Hussain had announced to local newspapers last week that he has no faith in the FA. Al Rumaithi replied in a press conference saying that if Hussain has no faith in the board of directors he should have resigned instead of talking to the media. Hussain submitted his resignation and it was accepted.
The FA, which is in office till the next elections on May 28, has appointed Saeed Abdul Ghaffar, Saleem Sorrour Al Shamsi and Khalid Al Midfa'a to join the board.
Meanwhile, the FA also decided to address the General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare about its interest in hosting the finals of the Asian Cup in 2015.
