Abu Dhabi: The Organising Committee of Football in the GCC States (OCF) has fined Al Jazira, the GCC Clubs champions, $20,000 because of the club fans who had invaded the pitch during the final against Al Ittifag of Saudi Arabia.
This was decided in the OCF meeting in Kuwait on Saturday.
Al Ittifag had lodged a complaint, protesting the result of the return-leg match which was held at the Mohammad Bin Zayed Stadium, here. The Saudi club won the first match at home 2-0 and Al Jazira won the return-leg clash by the same margin in regulation time. In extra-time, each team scored a goal.
In the penalty shootouts, Al Jazira won.
The Saudis claimed their goal should be regarded as an away goal and should be counted as two goals. But the OCF officials ruled that out, saying it was scored in extra time and not in regulation time.
