Dubai:  The UAE national soccer team leave for Muscat on Monday to meet Oman on Wednesday in a warm-up match in preparation for their World Cup qualifiers against Syria in Damascus on March 26.

The team assembled on Sunday and held a training session in the evening at the Al Nasr Stadium under coach Bruno Metsu, who selected 24 players.

Four players from Al Wahda and two from Al Wasl did not join the training due to their club commitments in Asian Champions League games scheduled for Wednesday.

The UAE team will hold a training session in Muscat in the evening tomorrow and will train at the match venue. The match will be played at 7pm on Wednesday and the team will return to the UAE on Thursday.

A training session will be held after the team's arrival in Dubai. The squad will have a day's break before re-assembling on March 21.

In preparation for the Syria match, the UAE squad will train in the morning and also in the afternoon on March 22 and 23, before leaving for Damascus on March 24.

The players will be back with their respective clubs, after returning from Syria, to play in the UAE First Division League's 15th stage matches on March 31.

The next round of World Cup qualifiers will be in June when the UAE will play two matches against Iran and one each against Kuwait and Syria.
