Abu Dhabi: The UAE FA has decided to change the format of its domestic competitions in the new 2008-09 season coinciding with the inauguration of the UAE Professional League.
Twelve teams will be taking part in the new Pro-League and the remaining teams, from the second division will all take part in the new first division league.
At the end of the season, the top eighth teams will play in the first division and the rest will be relegated to the second division with both divisions playing a three-round competition every season to decide the champions, the teams winning promotion and the relegated teams.
