Dubai: Ittihad Kalba's hopes of winning promotion to the professional league next season have been damaged following a 3-0 defeat by Dubai Club in the 28th stage of the league.
The defeat dropped Kalba to the fourth place in the Second Division with 56 points.
Out of reach
Ajman could win promotion after they jumped to second place with 59 points after beating Al Jazira Al Hamra 4-1.
Ajman's last two matches are against 12th-placed Al Zaid and Masafi in 15th.
If they win both they will tally 65 points, which will put them out of reach of Dibba Al Hesn in third and Ittihad Kalba in fourth.
Al Khaleej, who won the Second Division title two weeks ago, are on course to set a record number of points won by a promoted club.
Al Khaleej, who currently have 69 points, could tally 75 if they win their last two games.
In other 28th-stage matches, Al Orouba recorded the biggest win when they demolished Al Hamriya 10-3 away in Sharjah. Diba Al Hesn defeated Diba Fujairah 4-0, Al Khaleej beat Masafi 3-0, while Fujairah crushed Al Arabi of Umm Al Quwain 6-1 and Al Zaid beat Bani Yas 2-1.
The next stage matches in the Second Division will be played on Friday May 2nd.
