Dubai: Al Wasl's Brazilian coach Ze Mario said Friday's fightback against Al Ahli to draw 3-3 was possible because of the superior temperament of his players.
Al Wasl trailed by two goals in the league clash but managed to come back to level the score just after the hour mark.
"Though we were down by two goals, I was telling my players to keep things calm and move the ball around," Ze Mario said.
Best teams
"The critical element through the game was to keep our cool and not lose our focus, and I am glad our players responded," Ze Mario added.
"Al Ahli and Al Shabab are by far the two best teams in the league this season, and to secure a draw against them on their home ground is simply amazing."
Al Wasl managed to grab the result despite fielding a starting line-up with no foreign imports.
And Ze Mario was pleased with the performance of his young stars.
"We scored the first goal just before halftime and that helped ease the pressure immensely," Ze Mario said.
"After they returned for the second half, they were even more motivated and wanted to play some delightful soccer."
