Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, granted Al Shabab club Dh10 million for the club's 50th anniversary.

This was announced by the Al Shabab club board chairman Dr Ahmad Saeed Bin Hazeem at a press conference held at the club's premises on Friday.

"On behalf of Shaikh Saeed Bin Maktoum Al Maktoum the Al Shabab club President and Shaikh Mansour Bin Mohammad Al Maktoum and all the Al Shabab club family, I take this opportunity to thank Shaikh Mohammad for his generosity and unlimited support to the club," said Bin Hazeem.

Al Shabab club will meet French league champions Lyon celebrating the occasion on May 30 at the Maktoum Bin Rashid stadium. Lyon dominated the league championships in France in the last seven seasons.

"We are very proud with our club's history in the last 50 years during which we contributed in developing sport and youth in the UAE and Dubai in particular, as well as serving our community's cultural and social issues," said the Al Shabab.

Bin Hazeem revealed the emblem of the club's 50th anniversary as: "Your Pathway is Green" as the official green colours of the club. Al Shabab club are hoping to have more to celebrate this week. On May 30 is the club's 50th anniversary and they also have the chance of clinching the league title if they beat Al Jazira club in their last league match on Wednesday.
