Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, received the President's Cup champions Al Ahli team at his palace in Zabeel.
The reception was attended by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council and the President of Al Ahli Club.
Shaikh Mohammad congratulated the Al Ahli Club and wished them more success to take the club and the UAE soccer to the highest level.
"It's excellent to achieve success and reaching the top place is our main target, but the most difficult thing is to keep the top place. This will not be achieved unless you work hard in the training and prepare in a very good way.
"You must keep faith in your capabilities to show a fine form in the coming Asian Champions League and compete powerfully to clinch it. The UAE supporters are waiting for you to win the Asian title," said Shaikh Mohammad.
Shaikh Mohammad told the Al Ahli players that he will give all the support to the club, board of directors and players to help them continue achieving success and winning titles.
Shaikh Mohammad praised the good efforts done by the Al Ahli Club board of directors, the technical and administration staff and the senior team players who worked together as a team, which contributed in the club achieving this great success in the President's Cup.
Al Ahli won the President's Cup for the seventh time last month when they defeated Al Wasl 2-0 in the final held at Zayed Sports City stadium in Abu Dhabi.
Shaikh Mohammad attended the final and presented the trophy and gold medals to the Al Ahli players.
Al Ahli were looking to clinch the double by winning the league title, but unfortunately they lost points in crucial matches which pushed them away from title race.
