Abu Dhabi: Al Jazira manager Hamad Al Hurr Al Suwaidi said he was happy with the campaign despite not winning the first division title.
"We faced many obstacles this season including refereeing mistakes that led to suspensions of our key players, the stoppage of the season on so many occasions and the lack of experience of our young players but we kept competing for the title until the last step and are satisfied and happy with the outcome of this season and with the team which we have built for the new Professional League and the Asian Champions League," he said.
The team's head coach, Ladislau Boloni, and captain Phillip Cocu have featured in their last league match for the club. Boloni is on his way back to Europe to coach in Romanian, while Cocu's one-year contract has come to an end.
Mamado Dialo of Mali is also on his way to Qatar after his loan finished.
"Our team will prepare well for the new season. We, the board of directors of the club, have yet to decide on the new coach and foreign players.
"New players from the club's youth team will be upgraded to the senior team after they proved their worth, and believe me we are confident that our team will continue to be one of the best in the UAE." Al Suwaidi added.
Al Jazira have in the past attracted a host of foreign players including George Wea, Cocu and Toni.
