Dubai: The UAE under 19 football team began a short training camp in Dubai yesterday as the first step in preparation for the Asian youth championship which will be held in Saudi Arabia from October 31 to November 14.
The UAE play in group B along with the Republic of Korea, Iraq and Syria. UAE matches will be as follows: October 31 Iraq, November 2 Korea Republic and last match in group, B against Syria on November 4.
The team coach Juma Rabea has resigned, but the FA technical committee are trying to reach an agreement with him to stay until the end of the Asian youth finals and then join Sharjah club after that. Rabea got an offer from his old club Sharjah to become youth sector manager.
The youth team will hold training sessions twice a day at Al Wasl club until they leave at the beginning of July to Germany for a training camp. Rabea selected 29 players for the internal training camp which began yesterday.
Under 16 team
Meanwhile, the UAE youth under 16 team resume training today at the Al Ahli club under Emirati coach Ali Ebrahim until they leave on July 2nd for a training camp in Tunisia.
They prepare for the AFC under 16 championship in Uzbekistan from October 4 - 19. UAE play in group D along with Japan, Malaysia and Yemen.
