Al Ain: The UAE players are determined to finish their task in the Asian qualifiers for the 2010 World Cup on a winning note.
"We realise our advantage but we are determined to win the match." said UAE player Hilal Saeed, told Gulf News yesterday at the Al Ain Hilton Hotel, where the players are staying for the qualifiers.
"We want to reward our loyal fans for their support to us and have a motive to go on winning matches in the final round.
"Our country's dream is to play in the finals of the World Cup and we have the will, determination and quality to realise that dream," Saeed added.
"The match will not be easy despite the fact that we are almost in the final rounds and the Syrians have lost their hope," Majid Nasser, the home custodian, said.
"We have to be at our best to beat them and we will do just that.
"We have come a long way in the qualifiers and will not accept a loss in our final match at home. Our fans will be our advantage over the visitors."
Rashid Abdul Rahman, the UAE libero, said "The Syrians will be under tremendous pressures because they know they have to beat us 3-0 or more which means they will have to apply an attacking strategy.
Waiting for mistakes
"But at the same time they have to prevent us from scoring goals which means they will have to strengthen their defence, which will jeopardise their task and distract their concentration in the match and will result in mistakes. We will be waiting for these mistakes."
"We have come a long way in the qualifiers and will not accept a loss in our final match at home. Our fans will be our advantage over the visitors."
