Dubai: The general assembly of the Association of Professional Football Clubs (APFC) will hold its first meeting today.
Mohammad Al Mahmoud, the Professional League Association (PLA) Vice-President, said the APFC general assembly would discuss important issues relating to the kick off of the first professional league (PL) next season.
"The first general assembly of the 12 clubs who will play in the first PL in September will discuss many important issues like marketing, TV rights and its income and other issues," said Al Mahmoud to Gulf News yesterday.
Al Mahmoud said the meeting would not discuss the possibility of increasing the number of foreign players within professional clubs.
"This has been stipulated in the FA regulations with each club signing three foreign players. I do not think the number will be increased," he said.
The PLA Vice-President said the season would kick off on September 14 with the Super Cup match between league champions Al Shabab and President's Cup champions Al Ahli with the first professional league kick off on September 19.
Al Mahmoud said the meeting would not discuss the possibility of increasing the number of foreign players within professional clubs.
