Dubai: The foursome of D. McCarthy, D. Charlton, K. Crofton and J. Archer emerged overall winners of the Dubai Duty Free St Patrick's Day golf tournament on Saturday.
An amazing back nine of 53 points (total of 101) secured them a comfortable victory by three shots from overall second placed team of Cubby, J. Blake, J.K Murtagh and D. O'Neil on 98 points
A fantastic number of over 90 Irish Golf Society members turned out for the action, making it 23 teams to compete for the coveted title with their own interesting and aggressive chambull format at the Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club.
The Managing Director of Dubai Duty Free, Colm McLoughlin commented: "We have had a fantastic response for this year's St Patrick's Day tournament and some of the scoring has been outstanding. Thanks to Dubai Creek for their help in organising this event and we look forward to the next DIGs tournament in the near future."
Also collecting prizes from Dubai Duty Free for the nearest the pin and longest drive efforts from the day were Spencer and Tom Wolf.
Richard Ingram, organiser of The Irish Golf Society, announced this year's winner of the Mark Fahy memorial trophy for his outstanding contribution towards the Irish Society for five years. John Merrigan was presented with the award.
