Dubai: Simon Dunn triumphed in the Emirates Black Tee Challenge, supported by Gulf News, with a 3-under par total for the 36-hole championship.
Starting the day with a 4-shot lead from his closest rival, Nick Oakley, he never looked in any danger over the familiar territory of the Majlis course and cruised to a 6-shot victory.
A steady start to his final round saw Dunn level par through 7 holes, following a birdie on the 3rd and a dropped shot on the tough 6th hole.
Further bogeys followed on the 8th and 9th to see him out in 37, 2-over par. A one-under par inward half gave him a round of 73 and 142 total (3-under par) for the tournament.
Nick Oakley (IGLS) took runners-up place with a 148 total, 3-over par.
The defending champion, Joel Neale (EGC), delivered an admirable defense of his title with a 6-over par total for the weekend, but he was edged out into fourth by James Bowring (Al Maroondah group) on a last 18 card count back.
Miki Mirza (Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club) claimed the prize on offer for fifth place with a 9-over title.
Michael Kull (Emirates Golf Club) recorded the best nett performance of the Championship with rounds of 68 and 74 to give him a 1-under par, 142 total. Steve Hunt (EGC) claimed second on 146 with Michael Collins (EGC) third on 148.
