Dubai: The last Union Properties Dressage competition, before the two-day finale at the end of the month, saw reigning champion Lynn Al Redha and her handsome black stallion, Tartan Special, take the top place in both Advanced Medium and Advanced classes.

Al Redha's other horse, Filou, also came up with a good showing, but was just not flamboyant enough to steal the limelight and finished runner-up.

The Novice had a substantial turnout, with the top three places quite close, but it was Ruth Taylor and Ignor Du Banney from Al Asayl who had their first win of the season with a very fluid test.

Winning combination

The second place went to another Desert Palms combination - Ruth Curran on Connie - while Charlotte Drakeley on Cennan Alarch took the third place for W'rsan Farm.

The Senior Preliminary class saw one of the new combinations take the top spot - Michelle Woolmer on Lethe's Lancer from Emirates Equestrian Centre.

Producing an accurate show, they beat some stiff competition in quite a big class. Second and just one mark behind was the Desert Palms partnership of Joanne Ivemey and Covers Rocket. Jo McGowan and Saturday Night, from Zabeel Stables, rounded off the top three.

Shakira Muller, on Emirates Equestrian Centre's Ballinteskin Rocky, was a clear winner of the Junior Preliminary class, repeating the feat they had achieved in January on one of their first shows together. Cathryn Muirhead and Bradstone Boris, also based at EEC, was second.

The dressage competitions have been sponsored by Union Properties at the EEC. Entry is free.
