Dubai: Gillian Duffield's Madjani leads a classy field of runners in today's opening Maktoum Challenge-Al Sakbe (Group 1) race and the big question is whether the highest-rated Purebred Arabian champion can bounce back from his shock loss in his only start of the season.

Madjani, winner of three consecutive Kahayla Classic race on Dubai World Cup night, lost to the UAE-bred star Dynamite in the HH The President's Cup (Group 1) last month.

Richard Hills rides Madjani today against some class opposition, including James Frazier's Fryvolous, Doug Watson's trio of Kandar Du Falgas, Paris Gagner and Nirwan and the duo from Satish Seemar's yard - Al Moutawakel and Kerbel Lotois - all rated over 100.

A win today will help Madjani retain the favourite tag to win his fourth successive Kahayla Classic and overtake the great Alanudd's record.
