Dubai:  The connections of Spring At Last, winner of last year's Godolphin Mile (Gr 2) at Nad Al Sheba, have turned down an invitation to run in this month's $6 million Dubai World Cup.

Instead the five-year-old son of Silver Deputy will stay in the US and be aimed at the $300,000 Carter Handicap (Gr 1) at Aqueduct on April 5.

"We're honoured by the invitation. It's just the timing - we think it's a little too much at this point," trainer Doug O'Neill said.

"We just thought after winning the Grade 1 race in Florida that we would focus on giving him plenty of time afterward.

"Maybe if the Dubai race was in another month or so, it would be a lot more tempting. Right now, it would just be too much to ask."

However, O'Neill is hoping his Grade 2 winner Notional will receive an invitation to the $5 million Dubai Duty Free (Gr 1).
