Dubai: Rashid Bouresly, the Kuwaiti-businessman who has fallen in love with flat-racing, has praised the Maktoum Family for their efforts to put Dubai on the international sporting map.

"What they have done is unimaginable," said Bouresly. "And what they plan to do with Meydan is even more incredible. They have changed the face of horse racing and the future looks very, very bright."

Boursely said he was extremely grateful to His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, for supporting him.

'Great sportsman'

"His Highness is a great sportsman and he has been extremely supportive to small owners and trainers like myself," he said. "He has encouraged us right from the beginning and that is what has kept us going.

"It's not easy being in this business. But His Highness has shown us the way. We are greatly indebted to him. Without him what we have achieved would not have been possible. In fact nothing in Dubai would have been possible without his support and futuristic vision.

"As an owner and a trainer, I am proud to be a player in this rapidly growing sport. We are all excited about what the future has in store with Meydan. It will be a fantastic facility and we just can't wait to be competing at this great racecourse," Bouresly added.
