Dubai: The final round of this season's DAMC & RMC Karting Championships took place at the Kartdrome in Dubai Autodrome on Friday.
With Shaikh Hasher Al Maktoum returning to the Max Seniors class, a big battle was predicted between him and Scott Latham. Latham took pole and won Heat 1, with Shaikh Hasher emerging the runner-up. The order was reversed in the pre-final, setting up a much-anticipated final which finally ended in disappointment. As the field entered into Turn One, mayhem broke out with karts pointing in all directions, affecting several drivers. Worst hit was Shaikh Hasher whose race ended on the spot, relegating him to the role of spectator. The fracas served to space the field and diluted what could have been an intriguing contest.
Latham escaped unscathed and proceeded to post yet another impressive victory which earned him the well-deserved DAMC Club Max Seniors title.
