Abu Dhabi:  It was celebration time for Ford Abu Dhabi World Rally Team on Sunday with a 1-2 finish in the Rally of Turkey.

The win helped them regain the drivers' championship lead as well as extending their lead in the manufacturers' championship.

The Finnish duo of Mikko Hirvonen and Jari-Matti Latvala finished in that order to stave off a determined bid by four-time world champion Sebastien Loeb.

It was Hirvonen's second win in the eight rallies so far and helped him overtake Loeb in the drivers' championship while for the young Latvala, the second-place finish moved him to third place.

"Mikko and Jari-Matti have performed brilliantly all weekend," said Ahmad Hussain, Deputy Director General, Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority.

"After Loeb's win in Greece, the pressure was really on to get a result which would provide some breathing space going into the summer break."
