Dubai:  The heavy defeat Sharjah suffered at the hands of Al Wasl brought the relationship between caretaker coach Wajdi Al Said and the club to an end.

Sharjah lost 5-2 in their last First Division League match at Al Wasl. It was the heaviest defeat for the club in the current season, although they were one of the contenders for the title barely weeks ago.

"I think it's time to leave Sharjah after working with the club for four years, with the club's under-18 and senior teams. I decided to quit even before Sharjah lost to Al Wasl because I think four years is long enough," said the Sharjah coach.

He said he was happy with Sharjah's performance in recent matches. "I am satisfied with the standard of the team. Some players showed fine form, like Abdul Aziz Al Anbary, Nawaf Mubarak and Iranian Masoud Shojai. I had even asked the club to renew Shojai's contract because the team needed a talented player like him." said Al Said.
