Dubai: The Gulf News played the genie of the lamp to help make the dreams of tennis fanatic Solange Pineiro come true.

Pineiro proved she was willing to go to the extreme to watch Roger Federer play by standing, sandwich board-clad outside the stadium from 9am until midnight.

But officials at Barclays, sponsors of the event, said they wanted to spare her feet and give her tickets for the days she would have been forced to miss.

Pineiro, 53, said her husband and son have practically disowned her but she always maintained she would not give up until the last ball was played.
