London: Should further evidence be needed that the Wimbledon Championships have morphed into a fashion show, this was it: the presence of Vogue editor Anna Wintour.

She could fill up the July and August editions with Wimbledon-inspired items about whether tuxedos, cardigans and indeed red knickers work.

Anyway, it's terribly complicated being a fashion journalist.

While Wintour was collecting her press pass she was handed a sky-blue bag containing some frankly disappointing freebies that are presented to all hacks.

"Do I have to take it?" she pleaded.

"It doesn't go with my outfit. Actually, it wouldn't go with any of my outfits."

You tell 'em, girl.

BBC boycott

We haven't quite achieved Murray-mania but Wimbledon is working itself up into Murray mild enthusiasm.

So good to hear this sage assessment from Sir Steve Redgrave, five-times Olympic champion.

"I think he'll make the quarters. He badly needs an injury free run."

If by some miracle Murray does make the final it could pose a problem for the Beeb: Murray boycotts the Corporation.

Sue Barker progresses on to court to interview the winner.

The BBC will hope that under the circs even Murray will feel obliged to do the polite thing.

Sir Bobby's smile

One soul everyone has enjoyed seeing at Wimbledon even more than the players is Sir Bobby Robson.

The former England manager, who is fighting cancer, was being pushed in a wheelchair but remained smiling even when so many well-wishers blocked his path he was late for his match.
