Dubai: The decision to allow each club to sign three foreign players starting from the coming season, which was taken by the UAE volleyball association, has proved to be a controversial one.
Some clubs did not agree to it, while others accepted and said that it will help in developing the game.
The other clubs who are not for the decision claimed that it will affect the national team.
The decision allows each club to sign three foreign players and to play with two of them in the starting line-up the third player will be on the reserve bench.
Bad idea
Al Ain, Al Wasl, Hatta, Al Shabab and Al Rams accepted the increase in numbers of foreign players.
Al Nasr, Al Jazira, Al Ahli, Al Ittihad, Bani Yas and Ajman didn't agree.
"I do not agree with the decision. The foreign players will damage our national team and we do not expect any good results from the national team in the coming years," said Abdullah Al Kindi the Al Jazira volleyball manager.
The Al Shabab club volleyball supervisor said that it is a good decision which contribute in developing the game.
"The decision will help clubs to play in the FA Cup when club's national team players are not available. Also when one of the foreigners are injured or joins his national team, we can have a reserve foreign player to replace him," said Gharib Ebrahim, the Al Wasl team manager.
