Dubai: Shaikh Rashid Bin Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum welcomed the delegation from all over the world to take part in the Congress of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), which will be held in Dubai on June 16 and 17.
"We take this opportunity to welcome all the delegations, who will come to Dubai on the occasion of hosting the FIVB congress next month. We want to assure that we are keen to make it one of the most successful congresses in the FIVB history," said Shaikh Rashid, who was speaking in the FIVB ceremony held in Lausanne during the inaugural of its new premises last Friday.
Shaikh Rashid and his brother Shaikh Saeed Bin Hamdan were invited by Robin Acosta, the FIVB President, to attend the ceremony in Lausanne.
More than 400 sport dignitaries representing international and continental associations attended the ceremony. The IOC President Jacques Rogge was there.
Acosta thanked Shaikh Hamdan and his brother Shaikh Saeed for attending the premises opening ceremony.
Excellent way
Acosta said he was confident Dubai and UAE will host the FIVB Congress in style as the first country to have this honour in the Middle East.
He added that he was assured Dubai will host the beach volleyball world series in an excellent way, as always when hosting international events.
The beach volleyball World Series will be held in October with the best spikers in the world taking part in the $100,000 prize money event.
Mohammad Jalfar, the UAE Volleyball Association board chairman, accompanied Shaikh Rashid and Shaikh Saeed during their visit to the FIVB ceremony in Lausanne.
