With the Unseen UAE, Lila, Roba and Rasha Yousuf Al Hassan, hope to introduce local photography to the world.

The first exhibition organised by these three Emirati sisters, opened last Monday at the Cultural Foundation in Abu Dhabi and explores the country in 30 photographs.

"The exhibition aims to push the boundaries of traditional thinking when it comes to UAE photography by presenting new ideas - technically and artistically," Lila Al Hassan told tabloid!.

"Local photographers have the ability to break boundaries, because they live in this environment and know how to create a positive and unusual image of the UAE."

The desert, for example, "is not empty or just sand dunes; talented photographers show how it is full of life and inspiring ideas", she added.

The three sisters run their business from home in Abu Dhabi and plan to go big with it.

"We need support from the private sector to promote our message and reach out to every talented person," Lila said.

In 2006 the Al Hassan sisters also founded www.photolosophy.ae, a website that promotes creative local photographers, displays their art online and sells it to e-buyers.

The idea behind "photolosophy" is "the philosophy of photography", Lila explained.

"They say each photo stands for a thousand words, but I think it is more than that."

Currently the website features over 300 of the UAE's photographers and a collection of more than 1,400 high quality, royalty-free and rights-exclusive photographs.
