The political party Shiv Sena on Saturday asked Amitabh Bachchan to follow the example of Rajnikant, who stood up for his adopted state, but the Bollywood superstar retorted saying he had done enough for Maharashtra state already.

Talking to reporters at a public function, Bachchan replied: "No one can question what I have done for Mumbai. If you do not know what I have done for Mumbai, then you cannot accuse me."

Late Saturday evening, Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray distanced himself from his paper's comments. The party even issued a statement saying that Thackeray and Bachchan enjoyed excellent personal relations.

Outraged: Mughal descendant

Yakub Habeebuddin Tucy, the great grandson of the last Mughal emperor, Bahadur Shah Zafar, has filed a writ petition in India's Supreme Court against what he calls "molestation of history and character assassination of emperor Akbar" in Ashutosh Gowariker's Jodhaa Akbar.

In his writ petition filed on Thursday, Tucy prayed to the apex court to direct the producers of the film to change the name of the character Jodha to Harkha or some other fictitious name which "does not distort history and defame the name of Akbar or the illustrious Mughal dynasty".

Devgan sings Kajol's praises

Kajol is a director's delight, says Bollywood actor Ajay Devgan of his talented wife whom he has cast in his directorial debut U, Me Aur Hum.

"Very few actresses can perform like her. Doesn't every director want to work with Kajol?" Ajay told IANS.

"Working with her is a delight. When a writer writes his book, he uses words to express himself and when a director makes a film, actors like her help convey the message rightly," added Devgan, who was in the capital on Saturday to promote his upcoming film.

Kerala girl wins Miss India World

Parvathy Omanakuttam, a 20-year-old from Kerala, was crowned the Pantaloon Femina Miss India World 2008 at a glittering ceremony in Mumbai on Saturday evening.

At the grand finale, Simran Kaur, a 22-year-old from Mumbai who has won the Miss India Universe 2008 title, was named the first runner-up. Harshita Saxena, 20, from Goa, was the second runner-up.
