Starting on October 9, Abu Dhabi will resound with music weekly from around the world in a move to affirm Abu Dhabi as the cultural hub in the region.

The Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage is introducing a season of Music of the World bringing musicians and artists from Greece, Turkey, Ireland, France, Latin America, Indian, and Middle Eastern countries.

With emphasis on the fusion of world music, this unprecedented festival is promising to awe the residents.

After a successful Sounds of Arabia music festival in May 2007, ADACH realised the interest Abu Dhabi residents have in music.

"Abu Dhabi is a very diverse and multicultural society with representations from around the globe. There is a whole vibrant music scene out there and its often neglected in so many countries. Sounds of Arabia was a huge success in the number of turnouts and the reaction by the artists and attendees. So we are building on that success," an ADACH spokesperson said.

"Music is culture. It is one of the aspects, along with other performing arts that are extremely important in cultural representation."

To not exclude anyone from this cultural experience, ADACH is committed to a nominal or free admission for the concerts, which will be held at the ADACH.

The season will see Flamenco guitar phenomenon from Spain Diego Amador, Mobo-award winning saxophonist from the UK Denys Baptiste, Irish-Cretan multi-instrumentalist Ross Daly, Indian/Pakistani/French fusion from the Badila Ensemble, oriental jazz from Kamal Musalam, ground-breaking improvisations from Turkish superstars Taksim Trio, sublime melodies from Chinese virtuoso Liu Fang, one of the best Romany ensembles in the world Serbia's EarthWindSky Band, the spectacular Shin from Georgia and many more.

The first concert will be on October 9 at 8.30pm. and will feature the eastern sounds of the Taksim Trio from Turkey. For the full schedule, visit www.ADACH.ae.
