New York: A lawsuit by former Harvard students against Facebook claiming the idea for the social networking hit was originally theirs is almost complete, the New York Times reported.

The New York Times quoted a person briefed on the negotiations as saying that motions to dismiss the case were expected shortly.

Facebook is the hugely successful social networking site founded in 2004 by 23-year-old Mark Zuckerberg when he was still at Harvard.

The lawsuit alleges that Zuckerberg was hired by the former Harvard students to program a site called Harvard Connection, but he stole the idea to create Facebook.

A Facebook spokewoman was not immediately available for comment.
