A reader in Dubai asks: My building has been sold to a new owner and the new real estate company is hiking the rent by seven per cent. I have already had an increase in my previous contract. Is the hike legal?

The real estate company does not have any right to claim an increase two times in a year for reasons that the building has been sold to a new owner, and the questioner is advised to refuse such an illegal increase.
