Kabul: Taliban militants on Saturday released 150 Afghan labourers they had abducted nearly a week ago, officials said.
No ransom was paid for the labourers' release, officials said. Militants stopped three buses carrying construction workers in the western city of Farah and took the labourers hostage on September 21, thinking they were joining the army.
Officials pleaded with the militants to release the men, saying they had abducted simple labourers and not soldiers.
