N’djamena: An eastern Chadian town was attacked by rebels under Sudanese orders, the Chadian Defence Ministry said on Tuesday.
The ministry said the rebels crossed the border and attacked the locality of Ade, violating a peace accord signed between the parties last month.
The statement added that the enemy forces had been pushed back, but no more details were given.
The non-aggression pact, signed in Senegal and witnessed by United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, stated that neither government will allow hostile rebels to use their territories.
Rebels in Chad rebels had rejected the Dakar accord, declaring that their campaign could not be halted.
