Brussels: Colombia is not at risk of war with Venezuela or Ecuador, Colombian Vice President Francisco Santos said on Thursday, despite mobilisation of Venezuelan troops over a dispute involving Colombian Farc rebels.
On a visit to Brussels to visit EU officials, Santos said: "The Colombian government has been very clear it won't use force".
Santos added that if Farc is stopped from building camps close to Colombia’s borders, his government will take further measures to control the situation.
Venezuela moved defensive military forces along the Colombian border on Wednesday after Colombian forces entered into Ecuador to kill a Farc leader, a move which has been called a violation by the Organization of American States.
Santos said Colombia repeatedly asked Ecuador and Venezuela to take action againt Farc but to no avail. Colombia has since apologised for the incursion, but said it was a necessary action to protect their troops.
