Paris: A Syrian Cabinet member arrived in Paris on Tuesday for the first such ministerial visit to France in over four years.
Syrian Culture Minister Riad Agha was due to meet is French counterpart Christine Albanel.
Paris suspended diplomatic contacts with Damascus last year, accusing the government of blocking presidential elections in neighbouring Lebanon, a former French colony.
However, relations improved last month after a political crisis in Beirut was solved and French President Nicolas Sarkozy called on Syria to talk about Lebanon.
