Palakkad: A man accused of murdering his wife and four children has been arrested, Kerala Police said on Monday.
The accused, Reji, who had been absconding since the murders were first reported was taken into custody from a place in Kottayam district on Sunday.
The murders came to light when the bodies of Reji's two daughters were found in his house in Pattambi last Wednesday. The other members of the family were still unaccounted for at the time.
The police later conducted a search of the house and on Friday found the body of Reji's wife, Lissy, dumped in the septic tank.
Daughter raped
The bodies of the other two children were found stuffed in gunny bags and abandoned in a bush near the house.
Addressing reporters here, Palakkad police superintendent Vijay Sakhare said Reji had murdered Lissy suspecting her fidelity.
The accused also admitted to having raped his elder daughter Amalu, who was only 12, before strangling her to death.
Post-mortem reports had earlier revealed that Amalu had been subjected to a sexual attack not long before her death.
