Bangalore: Karnataka plans to issue identity cards to people living in cities and towns as part of stepped up security measures following Friday's serial blasts in Bangalore.
Closed circuit television (CCTV) networks at sensitive and crowded places and vital installations and enhanced powers to the anti-terror squad are the other measures under consideration, Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa said.
He was replying to a discussion in the state assembly on Friday's blasts in which one woman was killed and seven people were injured.
First strike
Eight low-intensity bombs went off in eastern and southwestern parts of Bangalore within a span of one hour on Friday afternoon, in the first such terror attack to target India's IT hub.
On Saturday, a live bomb was found in the up-scale Koramangala, close to one of the spots where a blast had taken place Friday.
