New Delhi: Top leaders of the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) met here on Monday to review the political situation in the country and chalk out their strategy for the fast approaching polls.
With elections for five provincial assemblies - including three states ruled by it - getting due in the next few months, the BJP is keen on planning out a foolproof strategy to emerge victorious.
Outcomes in the five states, namely Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Delhi, will have a direct bearing on the next general elections which is barely eight months away from now.
The meeting was convened by BJP president Rajnath Singh. Besides top leaders of the party, central office bearers of the BJP also attended the meeting, which concluded that favourable conditions are prevailing and a concentrated effort may help the party raise its political stocks further.
Among the five states heading to polls, the party said it is convinced about its prospects of retaining power in Chhattisgarh and dethroning the rival Congress party from power in Delhi.
