Seoul: South Korea’s beef scandal continued to plague the government as President Lee Myung-bak sacked three ministers on Monday in his first cabinet reshuffle.
The agriculture, health and education ministers have been replaced after being blamed for mistakes in policy, including the beef deal, that have greatly reduced public support for his government.
A series of protests have been launched since May against Lee’s government sparked mainly by concern over mad cow disease but later grew into a broader attack on his policies.
Lee also expressed concern over his failing government, saying the protests would be “detrimental” to the South Korean economy.
