Islamabad: Pakistani President Pervaz Musharraf says he will give his backing to the new proposed coalition government, as long as peace was maintained.
The president is expecting to face a tough time from the new government after pro-Musharraf PML-Q party was routed in February’s general elections.
It is even thought the new government will try to oust the president from power.
But speaking in the Sindh province, where he was inaugurating a water supply project, Musharraf said: "Durable, stable governments should be formed in the centre and provinces for five years, and if peace is maintained, I assure that I will fully support the coalition that is being formed.”
