Karachi: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) said on Wednesday that its doors remain open for talks with the new ruling coalition for national reconciliation as its top leaders and lawmakers plan to hold a marathon session in Karachi to decide party's future course of action.
"No formal talks have started between the MQM and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), but we are ready for talks to explore the possibilities of any future cooperation," MQM's central leader Dr Farooq Sattar told Gulf News.
The MQM voted for PPP's Yousuf Raza Gilani for the slot of prime minister, breaking away from the decision of its old ally the Pakistan Muslim League-Q. However, the party maintains that it remains ready to play the role of opposition in a forceful manner.
The Pakistan Muslim League-N is opposed to the idea of MQM joining the new government.
