Islamabad: Twenty four members of Pakistan’s new cabinet were sworn in by Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf on Monday, six weeks after opposition parties swept the elections in February.

Eleven of the new ministers in Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani’s government were from the late Benazir Bhutto’s Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), which also gained the majority seats in the election.

Nine were from another former prime minister, Nawaz Sharif’s party, which is also the PPP’s main coalition ally, while the remaining four comprised of an independent member of parliament, and other two smaller parties who joined the coalition.
