Dubai: Deadlock continued for the third day between the top leaders of Pakistan's coalition government on the issue of reinstatement of deposed judges.
The Pakistan Peoples Party and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz will resume talks on Thursday and are hopeful of reaching positive results.
"We have made progress during seven hours of marathon meetings but there are still differences on certain legal issues," said Chaudhry Nisar, PML-N parliamentary leader in the National Assembly.
Briefing reporters after the meeting last night, Nisar said the negotiations would continue today to reach a decision.
"We are very hopeful of positive results," he said. However, he did not explain what the differences were.
Khawaja Harris, legal adviser to the PML-N, was also present at the press briefing but leaders of the PPP were absent.
Regarding the April 30 deadline set by both parties on the reinstatement of the judges, Nisar said, "It makes no difference if it takes some more days."
The PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif along with his senior party members met with PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and his party leaders at a hotel in Dubai.
Earlier, speaking to reporters after the first round of the meeting Zardari made it clear that there was no threat to the coalition government. "We have agreed in principle to reinstate the deposed judges but still finalising certain legal issues," he said.
